about

Kevin Sandbloom’s “SCIZZa” is a lyrical play of rock, paper, scissors representing the phases and modes of a relationship. Originally writing to fit a traditional soul and R&B vibe, Sandbloom worked with producer Michael Morgan to punctuate the background with sounds that alternate between a gong lap steel guitar to give it an off-world loneliness while still sounding like it could come out of a car stereo in a different era. The song speaks to lost relationships and longing through pieces of a love letter never sent and is part of Sandbloom’s debut Color Red EP ‘SO u r’ coming out on Color Red in early 2022.

lyrics

You can be my rock
My scizza
My scizza
My paper

Honest is something we do until
It’s time to say goodbye
Different is something you want
Until I’ve fallen out of your eye
It’s getting tougher to find
Someone new now that
Time has gone by
You were my world
You changed my mind

Your name I breath into my
Pillow as I lay me down
I keep a home in my heart
For you chance that you ever come back
Love is a rose falling out of my
Fingers as it turns black
You can find me here in the dark
